HomeMy WebLinkAbout047 National Suicide Prevention Month Proclamation WHEREAS, Suicide is the 10th according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the National Alliance on Mental Illness reports that the overall suicide rate in the U.S. has increased by 35% since 1999 as one death occurs every 11 minutes; WHEREAS, every September in efforts to raise awareness, spread hope, and share vital information to individuals, friends, and families; WHEREAS, education, resources, and healthy discussions that are open, honest, and supportive; WHEREAS, who work in the fields of mental health, education, law enforcement, and others who serve on the front lines fighting for suicide prevention and mental wellbeing; WHEREAS, suicide prevention by learning the warning signs, learning how to get help for yourself or others, and understanding that one conversation can change and even save another’s life. THEREFORE, Proclaim the month of September 2021 as National Suicide Prevention Month in the City of Cupertino, and call on all residents to check in on the well-being of our families, friends, and neighbors as we work together to create a healthier, stronger, and more supportive community.
