HomeMy WebLinkAbout047 National Preparedness Month - pdf - 09.05.2021 Proclamation WHEREAS, The years 2020 and 2021 have reminded us that unexpected catastrophes can happen at any time, and we have seen that disasters and emergencies are not limited to any one crisis, location, or group of people; WHEREAS, September since the attacks of September 11, and it is an ideal opportunity for every resident of the City of Cupertino to join citizens across the United States in preparing their homes, businesses, and communities for any type of emergency, including natural disasters such as earthquakes, wildfires, floods, and other large-scale emergencies we cannot predict; WHEREAS, National Preparedness Month theme of “Prepare to Protect. Preparing for disasters is protecting everyone you love.”; WHEREAS, Planning now, before a disaster, is the best way to improve community recovery from disasters, the chance of survival and return to normalcy following a disaster; WHEREAS, disasters and encourage their family and friends to do so by participating in neighborhood preparedness activities and registering their contact information in the Santa Clara County AlertSCC mass notification system. THEREFORE, Proclaim our support to National Preparedness Month in the City of Cupertino, and call on all government agencies, private organizations, businesses, and residents of Cupertino to develop their own emergency preparedness plan and work together toward creating a stronger, more resilient community.
