Proclamation
WHEREAS, Adequate housing is a basic need and right of everyone, and the
City of Cupertino wishes to heighten public awareness of fair
housing and fair treatment of communities in the region; and
WHEREAS,
Federal Fair Housing Act of 1968 (Title VIII of the Civil Rights
Act), which states that discrimination in the sale and rental of
housing is illegal when based on race, color, religion, sex, national
origin, disability, or familial status; and
WHEREAS,
discrimination, as well as discrimination based upon age, marital
status, gender identity, or any other arbitrary factor; and
WHEREAS,
support by providing grant funding so they can continue
promoting fairness and equality of housing for everyone and
advocating for peaceful resolution of disputes; and
WHEREAS,
housing efforts, and wishes to focus public attention on April as
Fair Housing Month.
THEREFORE,
proclaim the month of April in the City of Cupertino as
Fair Housing Month
and encourage every person and community organization to celebrate the value of
harmonious and diverse communities, and to support the common goal of fair housing
opportunity for everyone.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of
Cupertino to be affixed this Tuesday, April Third, Two Thousand and Twenty Four.
