HomeMy WebLinkAboutTC 10-08-2025 MinutesMINUTES CUPERTINO TEEN COMMISSION Wednesday, October 8, 2025 At 6:03 p.m. Chair Anushree Misra called the regular Teen Commission meeting to order at the Quinlan Conference Room, 10185 North Stelling Road and via teleconference. ROLL CALL Chair Anushree Misra, Vice Chair Harly Liu, and Commissioners Jonathan Gao, Saanvi Halambi, Sumedha Kumar, Chelsea Lau, Vinay Prakash, Brianna Su. Absent: Commissioner Rusheel Deshmukh. CEREMONIAL MATTERS AND PRESENTATIONS 1.Subject: Youth and Young Adult Leadership Workshop Recommended Action: Receive a presentation on the Youth and Young Adult Leadership Workshop from Rene Fong. Rene Fong gave a presentation. Commissioners asked questions, which the presenter responded to. Chair Misra opened the public comment period, and seeing no one, closed the public comment period. 2.Subject: Community Outreach and Marketing Recommended Action: Receive a presentation on Community Outreach and Marketing from Communications and Marketing Coordinator, Branton Curt. Communications and Marketing Coordinator Branton Curt gave a presentation and opened the floor to Commissioner feedback. Commissioners gave feedback. Commissioners asked questions, which the presenter responded to. Chair Misra opened the public comment period, and seeing no one, closed the public comment period. Teen Commission Minutes October 8, 2025 Commissioners made comments. 3. Subject: Cybersecurity Recommended Action: Receive a presentation on Cybersecurity from Innovation Technology Manager, Tommy Yu. Technology Manager Tommy Yu gave a presentation. Commissioners asked questions, which staff responded to. Chair Misra opened the public comment period and, seeing no one, closed the public comment period. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 4. Subject: Approval of Minutes - September 10, 2025 Recommended Action: Review and approve the minutes from the Teen Commission meeting on September 10, 2025. MOTION: Liu moved and Kumar seconded to approve the September 10, 2025 minutes. The motion carried with the following vote: Ayes: Misra, Liu, Gao, Halambi, Kumar, Lau, Prakash, Su. Noes: None. Abstain: None. Absent: Deshmukh. POSTPONEMENTS – None ORAL COMMUNICATIONS – None OLD BUSINESS – None NEW BUSINESS 5. Subject: Confirmation of Teen Commissioners at Upcoming Events Recommended Action: Confirm events that Teen Commissioners will participate in for Fiscal Year 2025-2026. Recreation Manager Sonya Lee gave a presentation. Commissioners made comments. STAFF AND COMMISSION REPORTS Recreation Manager Sonya Lee provided updates on recent and upcoming community events. Recent highlights included the Preschool Ice Cream Social on September 25 with about 90 attendees, a Teen Movie Night on September 26 featuring Lilo & Stitch with over 30 teens, and the inaugural Na Leo Mokupuni Hawaiian cultural event on October 4 hosted by the Senior Center. Upcoming events include the Diwali Festival on October 12 at Memorial Park, the Wafu School of Ikebana Flower Show on October 18–19 at Quinlan, the Hidden Treasures sale on October 23 benefiting the Senior Center, and the Monster Mash Halloween event on October 25. Commissioners were also reminded about the Speaker Series for teens in November and the CREST Community Service Awards Dinner on October 29. Lastly, commissioners were encouraged to connect with Youth-Led Organizations (YLOs) at their schools to promote involvement and recognize their contributions through city platforms.
