Re: Tessellations application for Special Event Permit - Orientation, August 16, from 10am
to 5pm
To whom it may concern,
We will be having a Student and Family Orientation on August 16, from 10am to 5pm. The
event will have two folds, the morning, from 10am to 12pm is reserved for our 6th to 9th
graders and the afternoon, from 12pm to 5pm for our primary school. The event is taking
place at Tessellations, our usual place of business and we will not be selling any goods at
that event.
As requested in the permit application, here is the additional information in regards to our
upcoming Spring Festival:
10-11:30am Middle and high school orientation - meet the teachers
12:15- 1pm Vendor set up and second group of guests arriving
1-1:30pm Orientation in MPR
1:30-2:30pm Meet the teachers in Homerooms
2:30-4:30: Balloon Artists and Inflatable Slides
3:30-5pm Foam Party
5pm End
Morning Orientation: 150 guests
Afternoon Orientation and Social: 25o guests
Date/Time/Contact Person: Event is on Saturday, August 16 from 10am to 5pm. The
contact persons are from our Tessellations Parent Association Kelly Chang (510)862-1448
and Jean Kanjanavaikoon (504)220-1697) and Caroline Gupta, Director of Operations and
Facilities at Tessellations (408)203-7400.
Guest & Overflow Parking
Primary guest parking will be in the school’s front lot and along Yorkshire Drive (school side
only). Additional overflow parking is available on the school’s blacktop. Please refer to the
maps below and the detailed parking and event map attached to this email.
To help reduce traffic, we encourage guests to carpool whenever possible.
We’ve posted signage at the corner of Folkstone and Yorkshire (see poster image below) to
prevent parking in that area, and overflow parking signs will also be provided.
For the morning group , we can comfortably meet the 75-parking space requirement with:

● 40 spots in the front lot
● 15 along Yorkshire Drive
● 20 on the blacktop
For the afternoon group , parking is more limited. They will use:
● 40 spots in the front lot
● 15 on Yorkshire Drive
● An additional 70 spots will be needed to reach the required 150. These are outlined in
the attached detailed map, which shows the overflow parking available on the
blacktop.
ADA Accessibility & Restrooms: Our facility is ADA compliant and we have plenty of
restrooms to accommodate all the participants.
Electricity: N/A.
Temporary Structures: We may have up to 4 canopies, 10’x10’ to provide some shade on the
blacktop.
Amplified Sound/Music: Yes, we are planning on playing some music from a few portable
bluetooth speakers. We will not be “blasting” music but playing music to entertain guests.
Outdoor Cooking: None but we may have 2 food trucks on site. We understand that they
need to be permitted for the city of Cupertino and the county of Santa Clara.
Alcohol: No alcoholic beverages will be allowed or served on site.

Outdoor Activities- as of today, we are planning on having the following activities:
Inflatable Slides
Balloon Artist
Foam Party
● The Balloon Artist will only require a table and a chair.

● The Foam Party will take place on the field. A hose will be connected to a
water feature and will make foam that the kids will play in. The products used
are safe for the environment and students.
● Slides will be inflated using a generator on the field.
