1. Apolication
Application 4-U-76; Director's Minor Modification to allow Sprint Spectrum to install six panel.
antennas on an existing PG & E lattice tower at Lock-N- Stor at 10655 Mary Avenue.
Descrintion
CSD, representing Sprint Spectrum, is seeking approval of an aerial facility to provide PCS
(Personal Communication Services) wireless communication se: vices in the area. This is the
first of three proposed sites in Cupertino. The other two candidate sites are: 10218 Imperial
• Aveune (Applied Pyrotection Building) and 10889 N. De Anza Boulevard (Cupertino Inn) which
will be submitted on a future date. The subject property is the Loc-N-Stor storage facility at
10655 Mary Avenue which is the site of two existing wireless communication antennas mounted
on monopoles (Cellulaz One and GTE Mobilenet).
The proposal is to locate the six panel antennas on an existing PG & E lattice tower located in an
80-foot easement on the property and place the base station equipment in an available storage
locker. Placing the panel antennas on the PG &E tower precludes the need for a monopole
and renders the antennas nearly invisible because they blend in with the latticework of the tower
as shown in the photograph simulations.
The technology and power outputs comply with the national safety standard (ANSI) for radio
frequency emissions exposure. The project conforms to the draft aerial ordinance recommended
for approval by the Planning Commission.
Astiun
Due to the lack of visibility of the antennas, the Director of Community Development deems the
modification minor and approves the change. The approval is effective August I, 1996. The
fourteen calendar day appeal period will expire on August 14, 1996.
