Subj: Report of Director's Decision
Chapter 19.136 of the Cupertino Municipal Code allows for administrative
approval of minor changes to a project. The duector reports his decision to the
City Council and Planning Commission in time to allow any councilmember or
planning commissioner to appeal the decision within fourteen calendar days
Minor azchitectural changes are proposed for a previously approved site plan and elevations. The
approved plans are provided for comparison.
Description:
• Elevations;
East Elevation (facing De Anza Boulevard): The existing facia and wood colonnade aze proposed
to remain, rather than be removed as previously approved. The "burgundy" would be retained, but
enlarged. All colors remain the same, except that the aluminum mullion will be bronze vs. silver.
South Elevation: A squaze, double vs. a rounded single entry door is proposed. A metal frame
trellis encompasses the canopy.
Staff has no problem with the proposed changes in the elevations.
Site p( n:
The entrance azea south of the building is redesigned with a bench and sidewalk that wraps
around the rear of the building. The trash enclosure is redesigned and two parking spaces with a
trellis aze proposed between the trash enclosure and the building.
There aze problems with this design. The walkway needs to be clear of bollazds, and curb cuts for
access to the entrance need to be provided. Access to the trash enclosure would be blocked by
parking, plus the parking spaces proposed would not have back-up space. Therefore, conditions of
approval require that the sidewalk/entry azea be redesigned at the building pennit stage to comply
with handicap access requirements; and that the trash enclosure area and parking be retained as
• originally approved.

Action:
Approval with the following conditions:
1. The sidewalk and curb azea near the entrance shall be designed to comply with handicap
accessibility regulations.
2. The trash azea and changes in pazking configuration shall remain as originally approved.
