Subject: Director's Minor Modification (30-DIR-01)
Chapter 19.132 of the Cupertino Municipal Code allows for administrative
approval of minor changes in a project. The Director reports his decision to the
City Council and Planning Commission in time to allow any Council member or
Planning Commissioner to appeal the decision within fourteen calendar days.
Application
Director's minor modification (30-DIR-01) to install a wireless telecommunication facility and
associated equipment cabinets in and around the existing Vallco Mall sign located at 10123 N.
Wolfe Road. The project is considered de minimus and qualifies as an administrative approval in
that the proposed antennas and equipment facility will not significantly alter the existing sign/site
and will not be visible from public view.
Description
The applicant, Sprint PCS, is proposing to install a new wireless telecommunication facility
consisting of three 4' -8" tall panel antennas and associated electric equipment cabinets at the
north west comer of the project parcel. All three antennas will be mounted in the support legs
(51' - 5" feet max. in height measured from existing finished grade) of the existing Valleo Mall
sign. The antennas will be screened and concealed fully from any public view. The new 242
square feet equipment cabinet area is enclosed by 9-foot tall block masonry walls and screened
by new landscaping (ten, 10-gallon glossy privets). The applicant's proposal is consistent with
the City Zoning Code Section 19.108 (Wireless Communication Facilities) and 19.80 (Accessory
Building/Structure). Staffhas no objections to this minor change.
Action
The Director of Community Development approves the minor modifications discussed above.
