This letter confirms the decision of the Design Review Committee, given at the meeting of
November 7,2001, approving a director's referral of a design for a monument sign and denying
a design for illuminated wall sign cabinets for an existing office building at 20425 Stevens Creek
Boulevard (21-DIR-01), according to Design Review Resolution No. 66. This letter also
confirms the decision to approve a sign exception to allow wall sign heights of36 inches and 30
inches where 18 and 24 inches are allowed on an existing office building (09-EXC-01),
according to Design Review Resolution No. 67.
Also, please note that an appeal of these decisions can be made within 14 calendar days of the
decision. If this occurs, you will be notified of a public hearing, which will be scheduled before
the Planning Commission. The appeal must be in writing, accompanied by a check for $138.00
and brought to the City Clerk's office before the appeal expiration date of November 21,2001.

Discussion continued regarding the trees that are proposed in the privacy protection plan.
Mr. Gilli explained that the trees that have been selected are narrow but grow very tall
and are being planted at a minimum of 5 feet apart. They will reach full height in about 3
years. Mr. ,Corr suggested planting a species of tree that will provide the type of
screening that will grow tall and wide. Mr. Gilli stated that the cypress trees selected are
approved screening trees according to the ordinance. Mr. Corr would like to amend the
condition to read that the applicant can look at the approved list for a different plant for
use along the back of the property that has to be approved by the director.
