Chapter 19.132 of the Cupertino Municipal Code allows for administrative approval or
minor changes to a project. The Director reports his decision to the City Council and
Planning Commission in time to allow any Councilmember or Planning Commissioner to
appeal the decision within fourteen calendar days.
Application: File No. DIR-2002-09: Director's Minor Modification of file no. 9-U-95 to
add about 172 square feet of living space to an existing, small lot, single-family detached
residence by: I) extending a second-story floor across a high vol ume space, and 2)
enclosing a pOliion of a roofed entry at 10198 Macadam Lane.
The homeowners desire to increase their living area and increase its privacy by extending
the second floor across the high volume living rOOI11 space. The request includes an
enclosure of a portion of the roofed entry to the first column. Accordi.ng to the applicant,
the living room is wide open to public viewing from the adjacent office building when the
door is opened.
As this minor increase in floor area will be within an existing interior space and under a
roofed entry, the change in the appearance ofthe residence is negligible. There are no
additional privacy impacts from the new second floor area as the windows face the street
and the front yard (Exhibit A). The homeowners' association has approved the addition.
The existing house is 1,926 square feet and would be 2,098 square feet with the addition.
This is in line with existing house sizes in the subdivision, which range from 2,00 I to
2,275 square feet.
Action:
The Director of Community Development deems the modification minor and approves
the change per the attached site plan titled: ".I urai & Zahra Pavlovic, I () 198 Macadam
Lane, Cupertino, CA 95014/Interior Loft", consisting of four sheets, and with the
follmving condition of approval.
1. 'rhe exterior finishes, window framing, trim details and color of the entry room
addition shaH match the exterior finishes, window framing, trim details and color
of the residence.
This approval of the modification is effective April 4, 2002. The f()urteen calendar day
appeal period will expire on April 18, 2002.

The undersigned being all of the qualified and acting Directors of Cupertino Classics
Maintenance Association, a California Non-Profit Corporation, do hereby consent to the
adoption of the following.
Approve minor remodeling of the 10198 Macadam Lane unit that includes the following:
Extend the 10ft inside the house to cover the high ceiling in the living area.
Provide an entry way in front of the front door for more privacy.
We undersigned have provided this consent.
