Chapter 19.132 of the Cupertino Municipal Code allows for administrative approval of minor
changes to a project. The Director reports his decision to the City Council and Planning
Commission in time to allow any Councilmember or Planning Commissioner to appeal the
decision within fourteen calendar days.
Application:
File No. DIR-2004-14: Minor Modification of 04-U-89 to allow the exterior remodeling of an
existing two-story classroom building in order to convert an existing storage area and classroom
into church office space with no increase in square footage at the Peninsula Bible Church of
Cupertino at 10601 N. Blaney Avenue. To accomplish this the applicant will be demolishing and
adding interior walls, and changing the location of certain windows and doors.
The City calculates the church parking requirement based on sanctuary seating, therefore the
change of classroom and storage space uses to office use does not trigger any change in the
parking requirement. The fayade changes are toward the interior of the site and have no public
visibility. Since the changes are limited to first floor building spaces, there will be no additional
privacy impacts to adjacent neighbors from new windows.
Action:
The Director of Community Development deems the modification minor and approves the
church building fayade changes on the attached plan set titled "Office Modifications for:
Peninsula Bible Church Cupertino, 10601 N. Blaney Avenue, Cupertino, CA 95014" consisting
of 4 sheets dated June 15,2004 and labeled A-I.1, A-2.0, A-2.1, and A-3.1
This approval of the modification is effective July 20,2004. The fourteen calendar day appeal
period will expire on August 4, 2004.
