2005-20 for approximately 428 additional square footage for an approved market (Whole
Foods) at 20955 Stevens Creek Boulevard.
Chapter 19.132 of the Cupertino Municipal Code allows for
administrative approval of minor changes in a project. The Director
reports his decision to the City Council and Planning Commission in time
to allow an appeal of the decision within fourteen calendar days.
Application:
File No. DIR-2006-15: Director's Minor Modification of Use Permit file no. U-2005-20
for approximately 428 additional square footage for an approved market (Whole Foods)
at 20955 Stevens Creek Boulevard.
On January 17,2006, the City Council approved a use permit for a new 68,214 square
foot one-story market with a mezzanine level. The applicant's subsequent building plans
show a slightly larger building of 68,642 square feet. The 428 square foot increase is due
to Whole Foods' desire to have a larger mezzanine level than originally approved. The
increase is entirely internal with no change to the building footprint. Parking demand
will increase by two parking stalls, but the project has a surplus of95 parking spaces over
the City's ordinance parking requirement.
Action:
The approval of an additional Heart of the City commercial development allocation of
428 square feet is granted on May 5, 2006. The fourteen calendar day appeal period will
expire on May 19, 2006.
