DIR-2006-05b -' CITY OF CUPERTINO 10300 Torre Avenue, Cupertino, California 95014 (408) 777-3308 To: Mayor and City Council members Chairman and Planning Commissioners From: Steve Piasecki, Director of Community Developme~ Prepared by: Colin Jung, Senior Planner Date: March 31, 2006 Subject: Director's Minor Modification DIR-2006-05 for minor exterior changes to signs, canopies and building elevations at an existing gasoline station located at 20755 Stevens Creek Boulevard. Chapter 19.132 of the Cupertino Municipal Code allows for administrative approval of minor changes in a project. The Director reports his decision to the City Council and Planning Commission in time to allow an appeal of the decision within fourteen calendar days. DISCUSSION: The applicant proposes to: 1) repaint an existing canopy and add canopy logo signs, 2) replace existing building and ground signs, and 3) repaint an existing building as part of a new corporate image. The repainting and replacement building signage will not significantly change the overall appearance of the facility. The two new logo signs on the two canopies are non-illuminated and less than four square feet in area and are exempted by the City sign code. ACTION: The Director of Community Development deems the modification minor and approves the canopy and building repainting, and the sign changes with the following conditions: 1. The approval is based on the attached plan set titled: "ConocoPhillips, Profit Center #2705721, 20755 Stevens Creek Boulevard, Cupertino, CA, Oasis Reimage" consisting of 4 sheets dated 10/28/05, and labeled CS, Al through A3, except as may be amended by the conditions contained hereafter in this approval. 2. The background of the ground sign shall be opaque (non-illuminated). DIR-2006-05 Page 2 - March 31, 2006 This approval of the modification is effective March 31, 2006. The fourteen calendar day appeal period will expire on April 14, 2006. Enclosure: Plan Set G: \ Planning\ PDREPORT\ DIRreports \ DIR-2006-05.doc I- I L ~ SQlAQE CALCll.A11ONS T ~ ,: b 2 !
