Subject: Director's Minor Modification (DIR-2007-23) -18880 Homestead Blvd.
Chapter 19.132 of the Cupertino Municipal Code allows for administrative
approval of minor changes in a project. The Director reports his decision
to the City Council and Planning Commission in time to allow any
Council member or Planning Commissioner to appeal the decision within
fourteen calendar days.
Background
The project site is located along the south side of Homestead Road between N. Tantau
Avenue and Swallow Way in a P(MP) - Planned Industrial Zone. The project site is
approximately 5.2 acres in area that consists of an existing 100,000 square foot building
and a two-story garage.
Discussion
The applicant, David Orozco (HPC Architecture), is requesting approval to enhance and
improve the existing main entrance area to the office building along the east elevation
facing Swallow Drive. The project consists of partial demolition to the existing entry
walls, updated glass and door features, a new canopy system, and minor
paving/landscaping improvements leading up to the entry area. No additional square
footage is proposed. The Director considers this project minor and has determined that
the proposed cosmetic update to the entry area will not significantly alter the
architectural style of the building.
Action
The Director of Community Development approves the minor modifications to an
existing Architecture and Site Approval (4-ASA-96) as discussed above. This approval
of the modification is effective June 28, 2007. The fourteen calendar day appeal period
will expire on July 12, 2007.
