A RESOIIJTION OF '!HE CITY aJUNCIL OF '!HE CITY OF aJPERTINO
SUProRl'~ '!HE SAN FRANCISCD BAY AREA RIJ:GE TRAIL
WHEREAS, Santa Clara County is a growing metropolitan camty with an
increasing deman:l for recreational resources; an:l
WHEREAS, the Bay Area Ridge Trail will provide the opportunity to add
an iJIIportant recreational resource for the enjoyment of all Santa Clara
County residents including those of CUpertino; an:l
WHEREAS, the Bay Area Ridge Trail can provide recreational enjoyment
to people of all ages an:l ~ysical abilities; an:l
WHE:RE1!S, the Bay Area Ridge Trail will link parks within Santa Clara
County with park an:l open space lams of other ocmmmities outside the
County; an:l
WHE:RE1!S, the Bay Area Ridge Trail is canpatible with CUpertino's
General Plan, the County's Regional Parks, Trails an:l Scenic Highways
Plan, an:l Countywide Trails an:l Pathways Master Plan, an:l is also in
accordance with the ~.,o=OOation of the President's Camnission on
Americans outdoors
NCM, n!EREt\JlÅ’, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of
CUpertino SUWOrts the OOlICeþLs of the Bay Area Ridge Trail an:l suworts
the efforts of other p.¡blic agencies, an:l private sector institutions that
are ÿ¡Orking to bring this trail into reality;
AND BE IT FURIHER RESOLVED, that the City Council urges that all
agencies in a position to iItplement this trail, give the Bay Area Ridge
Trail full consideration in their planning, lan:l development approval, an:l
capital bJdgeting prnceeses.
AND BE IT FUR1HER RESOLVED, that the City Council fully supports the
Ridge Trail develq:ment p1."':I~a.. short of the exercise of power of eminent
danain for the involuntary transfer of trail easement or rights of way
fran private lan:l owners.
