Dear City Clerk,
Please include the below in written communications for the 02/19/2025 city council meeting.
Subject: Support for Stevens Creek Bridge Repair Project and Prioritization of Critical
Infrastructure – 02/19/25 Agenda Item 8
Dear Mayor Chao, Council Members, City Manager Wu, and Director Mosley,
I am writing on behalf of myself only, as a Cupertino resident and voter.
I am writing to express my strong support for Agenda Item 8 on the February 19, 2025 City
Council meeting—specifically the Stevens Creek Bridge Repair Project.
I urge the City Council to approve the acceptance of the Federal Highway Administration
grant and award the design contract per staff recommendation to Biggs Cardosa Associates,
Inc. This critical infrastructure project is necessary to maintain public safety and address
Caltrans’ recommendations for repair. Approving this project also allows Cupertino to benefit
from federal funding, reducing the financial burden on the city.
Additionally, I urge the Council to reassess discretionary projects, such as consultant spend,
and continued spend on non-essential priorities, In these times of budgetary constraints, the
city should prioritize essential public works projects like the Stevens Creek Bridge Repair,
road paving and roadway improvements to de-congest automotive traffic and and refrain from
reckless spending on unnecessary initiatives.
I look forward to seeing the Council approve the Stevens Creek Bridge Repair Project and
take steps toward more responsible fiscal management by cutting non-essential expenditures.
Thank you for your attention to these important matters.
Sincerely,
San Rao (Cupertino resident and voter)
