Next steps (as reported at April BPC):
Results:
• Documented safety concerns
• No bike or ped-related since opening of Regnart Creek Trail
• One DUI - hit parked cars
• Trail usage patterns
• See slides 4-6
• Public input
• No input received outside of April 17, 2024 BPC meeting (4 speakers)
• Site constraints
• Horizontal curves limit sight visibility
• On -street parking limits available room for buffer bike lanes
• Can provide around curve - Fall 2025

County Sheriff experience
No concerns noted
MUTCD and CVC guidance and requirements relating to
pedestrian safety improvements and setting of speed limits
Toolbox of options including signage and striping
Speed limit evaluation per AB43
16
BPC 02-20-2025
• Do not install midblock crosswalk
• No documented safety issue - no problem to fix
• Currently, "jaywalking" pedestrians wait and cross cautiously - This is
desirable behavior
• Installing crosswalk could degrade safety by inviting complacency
• Install buffered bike lanes around curve
• Requires narrowing median; vehicles would turn left from thru lane
• Install Speed reduction markings, SFS assembly, warning signs
