Presentation-Student Travel Report-01.11.2023 Cupertino Safe Routes to School Fall 2022 Student Transportation Survey Results CUPERTINO 0 SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL SS.1 vss CUPERTINO SurveyPurpose • Cupertino Safe Routes to School has been collecting data on how students travel to and from school since the fall of 2015. This data helps us to better understand citywide student transportation trends across all grade levels. • This data is collected using an in-class survey. Teachers ask their students how they are traveling to and from school and mark their responses on a Travel Tally Questionnaire that is provided by the National Safe Routes to School Partnership. • The information that we collect is used to inform program decision-making and provide data for grant proposals. • This report summarizes the findings from our most recent fall 2022 survey, conducted October 24-28, 2022. Survey • The Cupertino student transportation survey was first done in Fall 2015 for a subset schools. The remainder were added in Spring 2016. • Due to the COVID-19 virtual school, three survey periods were missed: Spring 2019, Fall 2020, and Spring 2020. • The survey changed from bi-annual (Spring and Fall) to annual (Fall only) in 2021 . • Teacher responses have historically been recorded on a paper form. 2022 is the first year an on-line form was offered. 7 of 13 schools used the new on-line form. • Regnart Elementary School was closed in June 2022 and is not included in the Fall 2022 study.
