Regards, Kirsten Kirsten Squarcia City Clerk City Manager's Office KirstenS@cupertino.gov (408) 777-3225 From: Kitty Moore <KMoore@cupertino.gov> Sent: Tuesday, June 18, 2024 2:31 PM To: Kirsten Squarcia <KirstenS@cupertino.gov>; Pamela Wu <PamelaW@cupertino.gov> Subject: Written Communications and Questions Item 12 City Council Agenda Dear City Clerk and Staff, RE 19400 Stevens Creek Blvd. I have attached the cost estimates from the 2022 City Hall Subcommittee (J. Willey, K. Moore) report which shows the costs for seismic retrofitting the current City Hall to a Category IV Essential Structure at approximately $7M. The plan at that time was to remodel the Torre Annex which the city owns and to relocate the Emergency Operations Center to the center of that (Torre Annex) building, and additionally move permitting to that location. The City Hall was then to have a renovation to a Risk Category IV Essential Structure; however, it could simply be seismically retrofitted to Category IV Essential Structure for much less. 19400 Stevens Creek Blvd. was built in 1979, under building code seismic design standards at that time. Has there been a recent structural design report conducted on 19400 Stevens Creek Blvd. to determine what structural improvements would be needed in order to obtain Risk Category IV Essential Structural design for the building? Because the Emergency Operations Center would presumably be relocated to this building. What is the cost estimate for any seismic retrofit? Have there been any inspections recently conducted on the property which may indicate impending maintenance costs, such as roofing, HVAC, or plumbing? There is a flyer available online for 19400 Stevens Creek Blvd. showing the current floor plan configuration of that building which I have attached. I have also attached the current City Hall Floor Plan. 19400 Stevens Creek Blvd. is a smaller building by about 4,000 square feet. Is there an expectation that the interior of 19400 Stevens Creek Blvd. would be remodeled to reconfigure the floor plan? Is there a cost estimate for this? 19400 Stevens Creek Blvd. has 75 parking spaces and no on street parking available on Stevens Creek Blvd. I have attached the Parking Study pages from the City Hall Subcommittee report, which show that the Current City Hall has 84 parking spaces along with on street parking. Will there be a parking deficit at 19400 Stevens Creek Blvd.? Would the Sheriffs be relocating to 19400 Stevens Creek Blvd.? Dear City Council: Agenda Item 12 for the 6/18/24 City Council Meeting seems to have a Supplemental Report which talks about moving City Hall to this office building on 19400 Stevens Creek Blvd. I don't want to move City Hall and the City Council Chambers into this building. What Are they trying to do with our City Council Chambers, sell them to HCD or Vallco? We don't need a Public/Private Partnership to put housing all over the Cupertino City Hall. This is a very ridiculous plan that would make Cupertino the laughing stock Of the County. Are they going to try to put housing on top of the Cupertino Library? I don't think this plan for buying 19400 Stevens Creek Blvd is a good plan, especially Since its a Housing Element site. Who is the city trying to sell the City Hall to? This is absolutely as scandalous as the whole Housing Element and the bad RHNA Numbers. Sincerely, Jennifer Griffin
