Good Morning Kirsten, Could you please enter my comments into written communications for 6/18/2024 meeting? Thank you, Brooke ---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Anne Ezzat <aezzat95014@gmail.com> Date: Tue, Jun 18, 2024 at 9:15 AM Subject: Tonight's agenda To: <citycouncil@cupertino.org> Mayor Mohan, Vice Mayor Fruen, Council Members Chao, Moore, and Wei, For the last several months we have been treated to histrionics about a budget shortfall and told about cuts in services. And yet on the agenda for tonight’s meeting, the council is on tap to spend over $8 million. Where did you find the additional money to spend for these projects? Under the sofa seat cushions? Item #4 $3,300,000 for Bike and Pedestrian projects Item # 5 $2 ,6,662, 786 for paving Item #6 $1,688,800 for crossing guards Item #7 $879,348 for educational and event services Etc. All of the financial items on the consent calendar, including the potential purchase of 19400 Stevens Creek add up to a tidy sum. Items that the public cannot comment on or get information about because of the fact the items are on the consent calendar. The majority council’s view, although campaigning on “transparency” is that information is on a “need to know” basis and the residents need to know nothing. This demonstrates a remarkable contempt for the residents and for the principles of democracy. If you believe the only time the public should have the right to weigh in is at the polls, perhaps you should relocate post haste to Hungary or any of the other authoritarian republics of which there are so many. Kindest regards, Brooke Ezzat
