RESCINDING RESOIlJI'ION NO. 8142 AND APPROVING THE USE OF $100,000
IN ca1MUNITY DEIlEIDEMENI' BIDCK GRAm' FUNDS 'IO HOUSING FOR INDEPENDENI'
PIDPLE FOR ACQUISITION OF A FOUR-FLEX 'IO SERVE ElGIll' LCM INa:ME MENrALLY
DISABLED INDIVIDUAIS AND AUlliOroZING THE EXIDJl'ION OF AGREEMENI' AND
APPROPRIATION OF FUNDS.
WHEREAS, there is a continuing need for affordable rental units within
the City of CUpertino, particularly for mentally disabled persons; and
WHEREI'S, develop¡ænt of affordable rental units for low-income
mentally disabled persons will enable the city to help meet its assisted
housing goals, as described in the Housing Element of the General Plan;
and
WHEREAS, the proposal frcnn Housing for Indeperrlent People meets the
guidelines for mBG funding as well as those of the Affordable Housing
F\md; and
WHEREI'S, the Affordable Housing Committee has reviewed the proposal
frcnn Housing for Independent People and has made recommendations for
funding of the housing project in cooperation with Mirarnonte Mental Health
Services;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of CUpertino hereby
allocates $100,000 in mBG funds from the Affordable Housing F\md to be
used for development of the project for mentally disabled persons.
BE IT FURIHER RESOLVED that the above described allocation of funding
to Housing for Indeperrlent People is contingent on the following
conditions:
1. Housing for Indeperrlent People secure a four-plex within the City
l:imi ts.
2. The four-plex be in escrow within six months of Council approval.
3. staff negotiate with HIP for a more favorable payback schedule
for the city and Affordable Housing Committee approval of the
payback and terms of the loan.
BE IT FURIHER RESOLVED that during the period of the loans, if
residency by Mirarnonte Mental Health Services is discontinued, the city
must approve arr;¡ alternative use of the house.
BE IT FURIHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby
authorized to execute an agreement for said project on behalf of the city
of CUpertino.
