Assumptions & Limiting Conditions
Arborists are tree specialists who use their education, knowledge, and experience to examine trees,
recommend measures to enhance their health and beauty, and attempt to reduce the risk of living near
trees. Clients may choose to accept or disregard the arborist's recommendations or to seek additional
advice.
Arborists cannot detect every condition that could possibly compromise the structure of a tree.Trees
are living organisms that may fail in unpredictable or poorly understood ways. Conditions are often
hidden internally or underground. Arborists cannot guarantee that a tree will be healthy or safe under
all circumstances, or for a specific period of time.
Treatment, pruning, and removal of trees may involve considerations beyond the scope of arborist
services, such as property boundaries, property ownership, sight lines, neighbor or landlord-tenant
disputes, etc.The person contracting the arborist accepts full responsibility for authorizing
recommended treatments.
Unless stated otherwise: 1) Information provided in this report applies only to trees that were inspected
and reflects the condition of those trees at the time. 2) Inspection is limited to visual assessment from
ground level and accessible areas; no excavation, sampling, or testing was performed. 3)There is no
guarantee that tree problems or deficiencies will not arise in the future. Conditions change over time; to
live near a tree is to accept some degree of risk.
I hereby declare that the below statements and information are true to the best of my professional
knowledge and belief.

Background This report concerns one trees at the Gardenside Circle HOA community,
managed by Community Management Services (CMS).A Plus Tree was
contracted to assess all trees on site and provide maintenance
recommendations. This tree was identified for removal due to poor health.
Observations 1. Callery Pear,Pyrus caHeryana—11" DBH
• 20677 Gardenside Cir, along Gardenside Ln.
• Rooted 7' from curb, between utility boxes.
• No city tag so presumably it is not a city tree, but probably a
development tree.
• Natural canopy is 80% missing or dead. Rot at base of trunk and bark
peeling away suggest fungal infection, likely Armillaria.
• Requires (1) 24" box replacement tree.
Discussion This tree is planted in a very poor location, and is now in very poor health.
Pear species often succumb to fungal infection and basal rot in urban
landscapes. The nearby sprinkler may have sprayed regularly against the trunk,
creating ideal conditions for fungal growth.
Armillaria is a potent wood decay fungus that infiltrates and kills the vascular
tissue in woody roots, then spreads laterally to the main stem, quickly girdling
the base of the trunk and killing the entire tree.Armillaria is also a white rot
wood decay fungus which destroys lignin, the rigid structural compound in
wood, thereby increasing the likelihood of whole-tree failure.
Recommendation A Plus Tree recommends removal of this trees, and replacement nearby with a
24" box single-stem 'Autumn Blaze' Red Maple,Acerx freemanii 'Jeffersred'
This species is recommended because:
- It is the same foliage type (deciduous) as the tree proposed for removal
- It can tolerate turf, which covers the available planting area
- Its roots will not pose minimal threat to underground utilities or nearby
pavement.
