Please add to Public Comment on Agenda Item 8, City Council Meeting, 2/6/24.
Dear City Council:
Item 8 of the City Council meeting on 2/6/24 is attempting to allow two story adus.
There has been zero discussion of the issues with this type of construction. It is
Not very good public policy to just throw construction like this into the approved housing
Without first discussing it in public.
Yet, this is pretty much what happened. Just bring it up once and then make it law.
Sounds like someone else's agenda.
Two story adus are so tall the second story will wind up in the power lines. Four feet from a neighbor's
Property line will guarantee the two story adu will become any neighbors' problem
Also. No tree will be able to screen the two story adu from the neighbors homes.
The two story adus will have windows that can look into any neighbors' windows, even
Children's bedrooms and parents' bedrooms, creating a potential peep show since
Many times the neighbors don't know who lives in the adu. In fact, now every adu on the lot,
Including the home, can be rented out to unknown people by an owner who does not
Even live there.
The loss of privacy for neighbors is a tremendous cost of allowing this type of intrusive
Construction.
Again, there has been zero discussion on the issues of this type of construction and it
Is going to cause tremendous hazards for neighbors. The neighbors are also going to have
To hire property surveyors to make sure these two story observation towers are not
Built on property lines or under or in power lines.
Frankly, I am very shocked that the City Council would even approve these two story adus
In the first place. Obviously, no care for the public or neighbors has been taken at all.
Unbelievable.
Please do not approve these neighbor observation towers.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Griffin
