Dear Mayor Mohan and City Council Members,
REQUEST: When a regularly scheduled City Council meeting is cancelled and re-scheduled as a
special meeting, please make sure
1. It starts at 6:45 pm on the alternate day.
2. That it be conducted as if it were a regular meeting.
3. Do not cancel the second City Council meeting in December (Dec. 17th, 2024) or in any
month, if it comes up in future discussions.
This past year has been one of the least productive City Council years that I can remember due to an
enormous number of cancelled meetings then cramming the cancelled items into a future, already
packed agenda thus limiting discussion and public comments.
Attached is the calendar months for
2023 Dec-Jan and
2024 Dec-Jan.
For Dec 2023-Jan 2024, I highlighted all the cancelled meetings (YELLOW) in Dec 2023-Jan 2024. You
can see that due to the City Council meeting cancellations (YELLOW), it is over 6 weeks between
regular City Council meetings! The cancellation of the second Council meeting of any month results
in the Treasurer’s Reports AND Accounts Payables being late and in direct violation of City and State
law. It also results in packed agendas when the Council finally meets.
For Dec 2024-Jan 2025, I highlighted the Jan 7 City Council meeting that is proposed to be cancelled
and the Dec. 17th meeting that SHOULD NOT be cancelled. I realize that right now cancelling the
Dec. 17th meeting is not proposed which is wonderful. I am writing to encourage you to NOT let that
meeting (Dec. 17th) be cancelled in the future.
Happy New Year!
Sincerely,
Peggy Griffin
