PROGRAM GRANT APPLICATICNS
WHEREAS, the City of CUpertino recognizes that it is in the interest
of national economy to pu...,oLe the conservation of energy resources and
reduce our nation's dependence on costly foreign oil¡ and
WHEREAS, fuel efficient traffic signal managaœnt by the City of
CUpertino will provide benefits to the local cx::mmmity in the fom of
lliproved traffic flow¡ reductions in fuel consunption, vehicle operating
costs, air pollutant atlÌSsions¡ and inproved safety due to SI!DOther flow¡
and
WHEREAS, funds have been established and are available through the
California Deparbœnt of Transportation for grants to local g:>VerruœI'lts
for efficient traffic signal managaœnt projects.
N:M, 'lHEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of
CUpertino authorizes the subnittal of an application to the California
Depart::Iænt of Transportation for a Fuel Efficient Traffic Signal
Managaœnt Grant and, authorizes and enpcrwers the Mayor and the City Clerk
to execute in the naIœ of the City of CUpertino all necessa:ry
applications, contracts, and agreements to ilIplaœnt and car:ry out the
purposes specified in the resolution.
