This arborist report includes the observations and assessment of the one protected tree
growing in a planter island. The site was visited on Thursday, January 19, 2023. The
tree is dead and needs to be removed prior to becoming unstable.
Assignment: Review one Pinus halepensis, Aleppo Pine tree growing in a planter strip
on the west side of the property at One Infinite Loop, Cupertino, CA 95014, shown in
Figure 1.
The assignment requires the following activities: visit the site, verify the tree, list the
tree species, diameter, crown radius, condition of the tree, impacts to the property, and
mitigation options.
Observations: The site was visited on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at about 12:00 pm.
The tree has a primary ID number per the Treeplotter application. The TreePlotter ID#
7726.
The tools used were a diameter tape and a screwdriver as a probe. Crown height and
radius were estimated. The three trees on the map were measured for trunk diameter
at approximately 4.5 feet above grade with a diameter tape. Trees were assessed and
rated for health and structure, and overall condition considering branch structure,
decay, leaf quality, vitality, dieback, lean, and other issues that affect the condition of
the trees.
The tree health condition rating was determined by observing the tree foliage, twig
growth, leaf density, and dead branches. The structure rating was determined by
observing branch attachment, crotch structure, trunk flare, surface roots, decay, insects
and diseases, growth habit, and any physical damages. The overall condition combines
the health and the structure ratings based on the most significant conditions present.

The tree is dead and will

removed.
Discussion: The tree is dead, as shown in Figure 2. Unsure of a specific reason for
death but would suspect drought.
Conclusion: The Pinus halepensis tree shall be removed because it is dead. Removing
the dead tree and providing a new tree to be planted in the general space shall
mitigate the loss of the trees.
Mitigation: Plant one 36" box Cercis canadensis 'Oklahoma' tree in the same general
area to mitigate the loss of one dead tree. The tree location is under high voltage
power lines, and the above -mentioned tree is utility friendly.
