To Whom it May Concern,
The Arboreal Company was asked to provide an arborist letter detailing the condition of the
subject coast live oak(Quercus agrifolia) located at 20520 Town Center Lane in Cupertino, CA.
I visited the site on August 8th, 2022,to observe and document the condition of the tree. Included
in this letter are photos of the subject tree (Exhibit 1). The following details my findings:
The subject tree was located on the north side of the Civic Park building growing in a large
planting strip amongst parking. It had a 10-inch trunk diameter and was in poor condition. The
subject tree showed many signs of being dead. There was no live foliage in the canopy and all
major limbs had broken off(Photo 1). Furthermore, no new growth was observed on any part of
the tree. Additionally, bark on the trunk and branches of the tree had extensive cracking and was
peeling off in some areas. Upon closer inspection, evidence of boring insect damage covered the
tree trunk in the form of borer holes (Photo 2). Boring insects can cause irreparable damage to a
tree's vascular system. This likely contributed to the decline of the tree. Overall based on the
visual evidence I consider this to be a dead tree appropriate for removal.
Should you have any questions regarding this letter, please feel free to contact me via phone or
email.
Sincerely,
