REGULAR TEEN COMMISSION MEETING
CALL TO ORDER
At 6:03 p.m. Vice Chair Naqvi called the Teen Commission meeting to order. This was a teleconference
meeting with no physical location.
ROLL CALL
Present: Ding, Halambi, Naqvi, Qin, Luu, Tarra, Kasamsetty. Absent: Zhang, Leung. Staff: Daniel Mestizo. All
commissioners teleconferenced for the meeting.
CEREMONIAL MATTERS & PRESENTATIONS
1. Subject: Wildfire Awareness Initiative Presentation
Recommended Action: Receive a presentation from the Wildfire Awareness Initiative
organization.
Members from the Wildfire Awareness Initiative presented an overview of their organization and
their goals. Commissioners received the presentation.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
2. Subject: Meeting Minutes for the April 13, 2022 Teen Commission Meeting
Recommended Action: Review and approve minutes for the April 13, 2022 Teen Commission
meeting.
Vice Chair Naqvi motions to approve minutes. Commissioner Ding seconds motion. The motion
carries unanimously. Chair Zhang and Commissioner Leung absent for vote.
WRITTEN/ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
OLD BUSINESS
3. Subject: Teen Center Re-visioning
Recommended Action: Receive a presentation on the proposed updates and provide feedback for
the facility reopening.
Cupertino Teen Commission Minutes June 8, 2022
Staff provided a follow-up presentation on the Teen Center Re-visioning based on commissioner
feedback at the April meeting. Commissioners provided additional feedback on proposed
programmatic and facility updates.
NEW BUSINESS
4. Subject: Summer Meetings
Recommended Action: Review commissioner schedules for July 13 and August 10 and decide on
meeting status.
Staff and commissioners reviewed schedules during the summer vacation months. Commissioner
Ding motions to cancel the July Teen Commission meeting. Commissioner Halambi seconds motion.
Motion passes unanimously. Chair Zhang and Commissioner Leung absent for the vote. Staff
agreed to follow-up in July to check-in with commissioners on the August meeting date.
STAFF & COMMISSION REPORTS
5. Subject: Update Reports
Recommended Action: Receive update reports from City staff and Teen Commissioners.
Staff Updates
• Staff shared the following updates:
o Recap on the South Bay Fun fest on Sunday, May 15.
o Recap on the Cupertino Café on Saturday, May 21 and Sunday, May 22.
o Teen Commission Recruitment is live until July 29 at 4:30 p.m.
o The Pride Month Celebration will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, June 10.
o Summer Concert Series will be held on Thursdays from June 16 to July 14.
o The Blackberry Farm Golf Course Survey is live.
o The 2022-2023 Fiscal Year Work Program is live and includes two items which may
involve Teen Commissioner advisement. More details will follow in the new term.

• Commissioners provided recaps on Mayor Meeting attendances.
