Public Safety Forum (Chao/Nellore)  Recommended Action: Receive updated reports and discuss proposals for future  forums/workshops    Thomas Chin demonstrated a standing request for speakers and topics for the Public Safety  Forum on the City of Cupertino website. Thomas Chin requested the Commission consider new  topics or speakers and provide information at the next Commission meeting. Chair Nellore noted  that the Mayor seemed pleased with the event.     3. Subject: Discuss potential City Work Program proposals for Fiscal Year 2022‐2023  Recommended Action: Recommend potential City Work Program proposals for  Fiscal Year 2022‐2023  Thomas Chin introduced the City Work Program process and described previous City  Work Program items. Thomas Chin answered clarifying questions from the  Commissioners.    Each Commissioner discussed potential City Work Program items. The Commission  weighed multiple options and clarified project objectives. Each Commissioner then  provided a ranking of the proposed Work Program Items. The Chair called for a motion  to recommend the top five (5) proposed Work Program Items.    Chair Nellore motioned to recommend the top five (5) potential City Work Program  proposals for Fiscal Year 2022‐2023; Vice Chair Shan seconded the motion; Ayes:  Ankireddipally, Chao, Nellore, Shan, and Wang. Noes: None. Abstain: None. Absent:  None.    NEW BUSINESS  7 PS 03-10-2022 7 of 21 Public Safety Commission Minutes January 13, 2022 3      4. Subject: Report by the Santa Clara County Fire Department  Recommended Action: Receive report by the Santa Clara County Fire Department    Deputy Fire Chief Estrada delivered the Santa Clara County Fire Department November  and December 2021 reports.  Deputy Fire Chief Estrada indicated no significant events  during the month of November.  Call volumes are returning to call volumes prior to  COVID‐19. No injuries to first responders were reported. Deputy Chief clarified the data  table on Average Response Times.    Continuing, Deputy Fire Chief Estrada indicated no significant events during the month  of December.  Call volumes continue steady and resemble more normal volumes. No  injuries to first responders were reported in November or December 2021.    Deputy Chief Estrada answered clarifying questions from Commission Members.    6. Subject: Report by the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office  Recommended Action: Receive report by the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office    Captain Urena delivered the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office November and  December 2021 report. Captain Urena reported all response times were met and remain  low. Captain Urena provided a public safety report on select crimes including domestic  violence and catalytic converter thefts.    Captain Urena answered clarifying questions from the Commission Members.    7. Subject: Report by the City of Cupertino  Recommended Action: Receive Report by the City of Cupertino Liaison    Thomas Chin, City of Cupertino Emergency Manager, delivered a report on the  8 PS 03-10-2022 8 of 21 Public Safety Commission Minutes January 13, 2022 4      emergency response activities in November and December 2021.  The report included a  summary of the COVID‐19 situation including the Omicron Surge and Cupertino’s  partnership with the County to provide testing.    Thomas Chin reported in Santa Clara County on September 9, 2021 (the last regular  Public Safety Commission meeting) 149,023 total cases and 1,316 Cupertino cases. As of  January 13, Santa Clara County has 218,660 total cases and 2,719 Cupertino cases.    Thomas Chin announced that the 2022 CREST Awards nominations are available.  Commissioners are asked to consider members of the public to nominate by March 11,  2022.    8.
