FINE ARTS COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING
CALL TO ORDER
At 6:32 p.m., Chair Kasamsetty called the meeting to order via virtual teleconference.
ROLL CALL
Commissioners Present: Sudha Kasamsetty, Diana Matley, Janki Chokshi, Esha Rao,
Satish Tare
Commissioners Absent: None
Staff Present: Joanne Magrini, Kelsey Christian, Iqraam Nabi, Benny Hsieh,
Toan Quach, Branton Curt
CEREMONIAL MATTERS AND PRESENTATION
1. Subject: Presentation from IT on Second Phase of Dual Authentication Implementation
Recommended Action: Receive a presentation from IT on the second phase of dual
authentication implementation.
The Commission accepted a presentation from the City's Infrastructure Division.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
2. Subject: Regular Meeting of March 22, 2021
Recommended Action: Review and approve the draft minutes of March 22, 2021
Chair Kasamsetty motioned to approve the minutes. Commissioner Matley seconded the
motion. Motion passed unanimously.

OLD BUSINESS
3. Subject: Discuss and Review the Considerations Regarding Art Talks for the Community
Recommended Action: Discuss and Review the considerations regarding Art Talks for the
community.
Staff gave report on Art Talks for the Community to the Commission. Staff recommended to
begin planning for an in -person Art Talk in late summer. Community Outreach Specialist,
Branton Curt, was present to answer any questions from the Commission. The Commission had
no questions for Branton.
Chair Kasamsetty made a motion to begin planning for an Art Talk in August, at Blackberry
Farm by the Art in Unexpected Places mural artist Sarabjit Singh. Motion seconded by
Commission Chokshi. Motion passes unanimously.
4. Subject: Review and make edits to the 2021 Artist Award Program, including Proposed
Timeline, Application Criteria, Award Description, and Evaluation Forms
Recommended Action: Review and make edits to the 2021 Artist Award Program, including
proposed timeline, application criteria, award description, and evaluation forms.
Commission reviewed the components to the Artist Award Program.
After discussion, the Commission concluded that the descriptions were adequate for each
award category. The Commission wants to include the judging criteria into each of the
descriptions in order for the applicants to fully understand what they will be evaluated on.
Performing Artists may submit no more than five minutes worth of performances for judging.
Film entries may submit no more than ten minutes worth of film for judging.
Commission wanted it to be clear on the application that applicants can apply for either the
Young Artist award or the Emerging Artist award, but not both.
Staff will make edits and bring back the award components at the July meeting for final
approval.

STAFF AND COMMISSION REPORTS
8. Subject: Monthly Update Reports
Recommended Action: Receive an update report from the Fine Arts Commission staff liaison
and commissioners.
Staff Liaison informed Commissioners that the Art in Unexpected Places mural at Blackberry
was complete, and there will be write-up about the mural in June edition of the Cupertino
Scene. The liaison also informed the Commission that the City Work Program will be discussed
and adopted at the May 26 Council meeting.
COMMISSION ATTENDANCE AT UPCOMING MEETINGS AND EVENTS
Commissioners discussed attendance for the upcoming Mayor's meetings. Attendance will be
as follows:
June- Commissioner Rao August- Commission Chokshi
July- Chair Kasamsetty
FUTURE AGENDA SETTING
Staff Liaison informs the Commission that the following items will be on July meeting agenda:
-Final review of the Artist Award Program
-Discussion and decision of the Young Artist Award theme and marketing plan
-Discussion of upcoming events and partnership opportunities
Commission did not have any other items to add.
ADJOURNMENT
Chair Kasamsetty adjourned the meeting at 8:31 p.m. to the July 26, 2021 meeting at 6:30 p.m.
