Minutes 6.9.21 APPROVED MINUTES CUPERTINO TEEN COMMISSION Wednesday, June 9, 2021 REGULAR TEEN COMMISSION MEETING CALL TO ORDER At 6:01 p.m. Chair Jayant called the Teen Commission meeting to order. This was a teleconference meeting with no physical location. ROLL CALL Present: Gu, Yeung, Leung, Srivastrava, Jayant, Natarajan, Zhang. Tardy: None . Absent: Nathan, Naqvi. Staff: Daniel Mestizo. All commissioners teleconferenced for the meeting. CEREMONIAL MATTERS & PRESENTATIONS 1. Subject: Multi-factor Authorization training from the City’s Infrastructure Division Recommended Action: Receive multi-factor authorization training from the City’s Infrastructure Division The City’s Infrastructure Division provided a presentation on the City’s new Duo factor authentication program for City e-mails. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 2. Subject: Approval of Minutes – May 12, 2021 Recommended Action: Review and approve minutes from the May 12 Teen Commission meeting. Commissioner Leung motions to approve minutes. Commissioner Zhang seconds motion. The motion carries unanimously. Commissioners Nathan and Naqvi were absent for the vote. WRITTEN/ORAL COMMUNICATIONS OLD BUSINESS 3. Subject: Collaboration with Safe Routes to School Program Recommended Action: Review survey responses and provide final feedback for school activities collaboration. Cupertino Safe Routes to School (SR2S) Coordinator, Cherie Walkowiak, presented the school activities survey results to the Teen Commission. Final feedback was collected on organizing SR2S Cupertino Teen Commission Minutes June 9, 2021 lunchtime and school activities to promote traffic safety. City staff will work on establishing implementation strategies for bringing the proposed activities to local schools. 4. Subject: FUHSD School Reopening Discussion Recommended Action: Receive an update from commission representatives on the FUHSD COVID-19 Taskforce and Reopening Committee and provide feedback. The COVID -19 Taskforce and Reopening Committee did not have additional information or meetings. NEW BUSINESS 5. Subject: Summer Meeting Schedule Recommended Action: Cancel the July 2021 Teen Commission meeting and select a date for the August 2021 meeting. The Teen Commission canceled the July 2021 Teen Commission meeting. Staff agreed to follow up with commissioners in mid-July to select the date for the August 2021 Teen Commission meeting. STAFF & COMMISSION REPORTS 6. Subject: Update Reports Recommended Action: Receive update reports from City staff and Teen Commissioners. Staff Updates • Staff provided the following updates: Reminder on the closing of the YAB recruitment, CED talks debrief, and the upcoming <hack> Cupertino event. Commissioner Updates • Chair Jayant provided additional updates on the CED Talks event. FUTURE AGENDA SETTING The following items were requested to be added to future agendas: 2021-2022 Work Program. ADJOURNMENT At 7:33 p.m. the Teen Commission adjourned to a REGULAR MEETING which will be held on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. as a Zoom Webinar.
