REGULAR TEEN COMMISSION MEETING
CALL TO ORDER
At 6:0 2 p.m. Chair Jayant called the Regular Teen Commission meeting to order. This was a
teleconference meeting with no physical location.
ROLL CALL
Present: All. Tardy: none. Absent: Nathan. Staff: Daniel Mestizo. All commissioners teleconferenced for the
meeting.
CEREMONIAL MATTERS & PRESENTATIONS
1. Subject: Training on Commissioner Handbook Approved by City Council on January 19, 2021
Recommended Action: Conduct Training on Commissioner Handbook
City Clerk Kirsten Squarcia shared the approved Commissioner Handbook and conducted a
training for commissioners.
2. Subject: Presentation on Vaping Awareness
Recommended Action: Receive presentation on Vaping awareness and provide feedback.
Local teen Akanshka Roy shared a presentation vaping awareness and an upcoming art contest.
Commissioners provided their feedback on the presentation
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
3. Subject: Approval of Minutes for January 13, 2021
Recommended Action: Review and approve minutes from January 13 Teen Commission meeting.
Chair Jayant motions to approve minutes. Commissioner Natarajan seconds motion. The motion
passes with Commissioner Gu voting ‘No’.

OLD BUSINESS
4. Subject: Collaborations with the Safe Routes to School Program
Recommended Action: Review Safe Routes to School Program collaboration suggestions and select
top three topics to explore.
City staff shared potential suggestions for collaborations with the Safe Routes to School Program.
Commissioners shared their ideas and selected the following two ideas: assisting with the Safe
Routes to School Video Contest and partnering with high schools to host an educational workshop
as part of the advisory period curriculum.
NEW BUSINESS
5. Subject: Earth Day 2021 Youth Engagement and Volunteering Opportunities
Recommended Action: Receive Earth Day 2021 presentation and provide ideas and feedback on
youth engagement and volunteer opportunities for Earth Day 2021.
Outreach Coordinator Victoria Morin and Sustainability Intern Ritu Atreyas shared the proposed
plans for the virtual Earth Day 2021 event and opportunities for youth engagement and
volunteering.
Commissioners shared their feedback and provided a list of school clubs for additional
collaborations.
6. Subject: Esports Programming
Recommended Action: Receive presentation on new Esports Program and provide feedback.
City staff provided a presentation detailing the new Esports Program .
Commissioners provided feedback on the program fees and areas for engagement.
STAFF & COMMISSION REPORTS
7. Subject: Update Reports
Recommended Action: Receive update reports from City staff and Teen Commissioners.
Staff Updates
• City staff provided the following updates:
o Resignation of former Teen Commissioner Nitya Devisetti and installation of Teen
Commissioner Arya Srivastava for the remainder of the 2020-2021 Term.
o Staff recommended moving to one meeting per month. The Teen Commission
decided to move to one meeting per month on the second Tuesday.

At 8:21 p.m. the Teen Commission adjourned to a REGULAR MEETING which will be held on March
10, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. as a Zoom Webinar.
