REGULAR TEEN COMMISSION MEETING
CALL TO ORDER
At 6:03 p.m. Vice-Chair Jayant called the Regular Teen Commission meeting to order. This was a teleconference
meeting with no physical location.
ROLL CALL
Present: Gu, Jayant, Leung, Naqvi, Natarajan, Nathan, Yeung, Zhang. Tardy: Devisetti. Absent: N/A. Staff:
Daniel Mestizo. All commissioners teleconferenced for the meeting.
CEREMONIAL MATTERS & PRESENTATIONS
1. Swearing-in Ceremony
The Cupertino Deputy City Clerk swore-in Maple Leung, Zehra Naqvi, and Alex Zhang for the
2020-2022 Teen Commission Term.
2. Presentation from City Clerk
The City Clerk presented to the Teen Commission on the Brown Act and meeting decorum.
3. Community Outreach Presentation
The Teen Commission received a presentation from the Community Outreach Specialist on the
City’s social media policy, the City’s style and branding guidelines, and the Teen Commissions
role in representing the City.
4. Icebreaker Activity
The Teen Commission did a sixty-second hot seat activity to allow the returning and incoming
commissioners to get to know each other.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
5. August 26, 2020 – Commissioner Natarajan motions to approve minutes with corrections. Commissioner
Yeung seconds motion. Abstain: Naqvi, Leung, Zhang. The motion passes unanimously.

OLD BUSINESS
6. Pizza and Politics 2020
City staff and the Pizza and Politics Subcommittee provided planning updates to the Commission.
An explanation of the event was given to the incoming commissioners.
Commissioners Natarajan, Devisetti, and Naqvi will create and edit promotional videos.
NEW BUSINESS
STAFF & COMMISSION REPORTS
Staff Updates
• Staff shared the Info-Teeno event which is taking place on Sunday, September 13 with the Teen
Commission .
Commissioner Updates
• Commissioner Nathan reviewed the Mayor’s Meeting and shared the following information:
Fine Arts Commission is looking at virtual events, Sustainability Commission is working on the
Climate Action Plan, and the Library Commission is looking at checking out laptops for
students to use.
FUTURE AGENDA SETTING
The following items were requested to be added to the next meeting: Student Organization Support,
Pizza and Politics 2020, Technology Policy Presentation, and Teen Commission Involvement in City-
wide Matters.
ADJOURNMENT
At 7:58 p.m. the Teen Commission adjourned to a REGULAR MEETING which will be held on
September 23, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. as a Zoom Webinar.
