RECOMMENDING AMENEMENT OF THE I ND USE COMMUNITY CHARACTER

FINDINGS
b i2F S, the Planning Cmnission has held public hearings involving
written reports and testimony fram Planning Staff, directly affected
property owners, and citizens an general, and
wBEREAS, the Planning Cmmtission has concluded its deliberation relative
to the Land Use Ccamunity Character Element revision of said General Plana
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
to That the Planning,Cemnnission approves the Amendment to the City of
Cupertino General Plan as set forth in Exhibit A attached hereto
and made a part thereof.
2. The Planning Commission hereby authorizes the chairman of the
Planning Cmmission to endorse said adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Planning Cmmnission of the
Cty.of Cupertino this 22nd day of May 1989 by the following vote:

Convention Center Designation
The Land Usq/Comminity character element of the General Plan shall be
amended as follows:
The City ° s Coal to achieve a balanced cc mnanity is enhanced by the
development and operation of a Convention Center to. be located in a
"core area business and office center.00 Said Center would:
1. Provide a meeting and gathering space for civic functions
which would otherwise be held outside of the City.
2. Provide meeting and support services for corporations which
are headquartered in the City.
3. Strengthen the viability of a full service hotel which in
turn would provide fiscal benefits to the City.
The. City may enter into a relationship with a hotel/convention center
developer to encourage such a center.
