MINUTI"'; OF THL HARCII 63 1.975) PLANI`:ING COMMISSION IEI:TING
The Associate Planner reviewed .in dt,pth the March 63, 1975 draft•of
"Cupertino General. Plan, Dwelling Units in the Hill Area" and attachments.
The Associate Planner next reviewed the March 3, 1.975 "Cupertino
General Plan: Public Facilities - JATLER SUPPLY" document, the
March 6, 1975 draft of "Cupertino General Plan: Public Facilities
Element - SEWERS", and March 6, 1975 draft of "Cupertino General Plan:
Public facilities Element - SCHOOLS".
The Associate Planner said it is daTagerous to make long term decisions
on a.short term basis in regard to schools. It was felt that it
probably would be a mistake .for the school districts to sell some of
the school plants based on the lack of need at the present time
because this picture could change and it would end up costing more to
to meet the need in future years.
Chairman Gatto would like the Council to know that, because of the
long term planning, the Planning Co;mission feels we will need all the
schools in the future.
The Planning Director said the staff intends to arrange for school
district people to come to one of t':ie Commission's meetings to give
us the benefit of their data.
Nancy Hertert , San Juan Road, recommended these school sites be given
a Public Facilities Zone Designation.
The Associate Planner next reviewed the data received from Traffic
Ccnsultant Don Goodrich. lie said the staff has just begun to "massage
the figures". The Commission is concerned about those streets with
D or D-E levels of service. There ,aas some discussion of the effect
transit may have on traffic. It was noted that Mr. Goodrich is
some;aliat pessimistic about a 30% reduction, due to transit.
The Assistant Director stated the st=aff will be writing up data sheets
and when 12 - 14 are completed, we i.hust work with the Citizens Goals
and prepare a score card on which a subjective decision can be made.
We will then go back and try to mit.:ga.te some of the problem areas.
