FINE ARTS COMMISSION
Regular Meeting
June 26, 2001
1. CALL TO ORDER
· At 7:38 p.m. Chairperson Carl Orr called the meeting to order in Conference
Room A, Cupertino City Hall, 10300 Torre Avenue.
2. ROLL CALL
Present: Chairperson Carl Orr, Commissioners Shirley Lin Kinoshita (7:45 p.m.),
Hema Kundargi, Janet Mohr, Barbara Phelps, Rita Young, City Clerk Kimberly
Smith and Recording Secretary Dorothy Steenfott
Absent: Nancy Canter
3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Phelps moved to approve the minutes of the regula~ meeting of May 22, 2001.
Kundargi seconded and motion passed unanimously with Canter and Lin
Kinoshita absent.
4. WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS
City Clerk distributed copies of the Silicon Valley Cultural Marketing Partnership
for the Commission's information.
5. COMMISSIONER AND LIAISON REPORTS
Molar will attend the July 10 mayor's breakfast.
6. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
A. Criteria for public art
Phelps requested comments and notes from the commission and will
compile them for the next meeting.

B. Children's mural status report
Kundargi reported that over 100 children participated and the tiles are
completed. She stated that Diana Argabrite requested that the City install
the tiles and Diana would supervise the installation. City Clerk will
contact Bob Rizzo and see if the City has someone that can handle this
type of installation. Kundargi also reported that the muralist would be
meeting with Diana on June 28 to discuss the project. The commission
expressed interest in receiving a conceptual drawing of the mural.
Kundargi will contact the muralist and request a conceptual drawing of the
mural.
C. Four Seasons Plaza status report
City Clerk reported that the groundbreaking ceremony for the hotel has
occurred. City Staff will be meeting on July 9 to determine the definition
of "gateway" and what intersection improvements should be made.
D. Distinguished Artist of the Year
City Clerk distributed the press release that will appear in the Scene.
E. Status report Cupertino Art & Wine Festival information booth
The commission reviewed the assignment list and developed the final text
for the brochure.
7. NEW BUSINESS
A. Budget update
City Clerk informed the commission that the grants budget had been
increased from $12,000 to $15,000 for fiscal year 2001/02.
8. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 10:33 p.m.
