Customer Satisfaction Survey- Update
Every three years, SCCLD conducts a customer
satisfaction survey to hear directly from our patrons
and collect valuable, actionable information. The
2019 Patron Satisfaction Survey more than doubled
the responses from 2016 for a total of 7,154
respondents.
As you know, we serve a very diverse community
(37% of our population are foreign-born), and in
2019 we intentionally set a goal of increasing
engagement with patrons whose primary language
is other than English to be more reflective of our

population. This year, 25% of respondents reporting their primary language is a language
other than English.
There were 6,633 online surveys submitted and 521 paper surveys to provide the opportunity
for all patrons to participate regardless of access to a computer.

Final results will be shared in October/November.
Calling all Makers
For the first time ever, the Maker Faire is coming to South
County! Gilroy Mini Maker Faire will take place at the Gilroy
Library on July 13th, from 11 am – 3 pm. From engineers to
artists, scientists, and crafters, Maker Faire is a venue for
"makers" to show hobbies, experiments and projects.
There are approximately 20 makers scheduled for the day
including the Walt Disney Family Museum who will come out to
do an art activity, then turn that art into short movies using their
multiplane cameras. Other makers include a 12-year-old
LEGO engineer who will teach participants how to build LEGO candy dispensers and

Gilroy Library Makerspace programming, including 3D printers, Dremel Laser Cutters and
Silhouette Cameo.
Visitors can make their own creations through a number of activities for people of all ages,

Access to Welcoming Spaces: Behavior Policy Update
SCCLD libraries are open 7 days/week and incredibly popular, seeing over 10,000 visits each
day. To ensure that each patron benefits from Library District access—in a non-judgmental,
safe, and welcoming environment—the library utilizes a standards of behavior
policy. This policy supports consistent and equitable standards, and, while SCCLD never
takes suspending library use lightly, the policy ensures the suspension process is a fair
one. Through the engagement and input from each library commission, we ensure our public’s
access to welcoming spaces. This policy is being updated and we seek your input prior to it
being presented to the Library District's Joint Powers Authority board for review in October.
