Cupertino, CA 95014 [DRAFT] MINUTES CALL TO ORDER @ 6:04pm PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE ROLL CALL Commissioners Present: Krishnan, Tung, Khot, Shearin, Chan, Krithika V., Subramanyam, Vemula Tardy: N/A Absent: Tan Staff Present: Daniel Mestizo CEREMONIAL MATTERS & PRESENTATIONS MINUTES FROM PREVIOUS MEETING 1.May 8, 2019 – Commissioner Subramanyam motions to approve minutes. Commissioner Venkatasubramanian seconds motion. Motion passes unanimously. WRITTEN/ORAL COMMUNICATIONS OLD BUSINESS 2.2019-2020 Work Program The Teen Commission reviewed the work program. Commissioner Chan motioned to approve the 2019-2020 Work Program. Commissioner Subramanyam seconds the motion. Motion passes with 8 yes votes. Absent: Tan 3.TEDx Event The selection committee for the TEDx collaborative event gave an update. 4.If I Were Mayor Contest Commissioner Subramanyam agreed to send staff the entry form by Tuesday, May 28 th. 5.Potential collaborations with Safe Routes to School Program City staff confirmed that FUHSD has agreed to support the Teen Commission with the “Safe Routes to School Collaboration” item on their 2019-2020 Work Program. 6.Cupertino Café Staff provided the Teen Commission with an update from the Youth Activity Board. 3 NEW BUSINESS 7.Teen Commission Characteristics Activity Staff presented the idea of writing a letter to City Council which would serve as an aid in the selection of the new commissioners. The Commission questioned the pragmatic utilization of the letter and selected not to write a letter to City Council. 8.Summer Meetings The Commission agreed to have 2 regular meetings in June, which would fall on June 12th and June 26th, cancel meetings in July, and have 2 regular meetings in August, which would fall on August 14th and August 28th.
