Said special meeting shall be for the purpose of conducting business on the subject matters listed below under the heading, "Special Meeting." SPECIAL MEETING CALL TO ORDER ROLL CALL APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1.Subject: Regular Meeting of April 4, 2018 Draft Minutes POSTPONEMENTS ORAL COMMUNICATIONS This portion of the meeting is reserved for persons wishing to address the commission on any matter not on the agenda. Speakers are limited to three (3) minutes. Page 3 DRAFT MINUTES LIBRARY COMMISSION Wednesday, April 4, 2018 LIBRARY COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING CALL TO ORDER At 7:02pm, Vice Chair Crabtree called the meeting to order at Cupertino Library, 10800 Torre Ave, Cupertino in the Story Room. ROLL CALL Commissioners: Liana Crabtree, Amanda Jia Wo, Gopal Kumarappan City/County Library Staff: Christine Hanel, Clare Varesio, Chris Brown (Deputy County Librarian) Absent: Christie Wang, Rose Grymes APPROVAL OF MINUTES Regular Meeting of March 7, 2018 Commissioner Wo motioned to approve the minutes as submitted and Commissioner Kumarappan seconded. Motion carries with 3 yes and 2 absent. POSTPONEMENTS None ORAL COMMUNICATIONS None WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS None Commissioner Kumarappan moved item #4 to be next on the agenda. Commissioner Wo seconded. Motion passed 3 yes and 2 absent. NEW BUSINESS Explore Merging Commissions Kathy Stakey spoke in support of keeping the Library Commission as a separate Commission. Commissioner Kumarappan reached out to the Cupertino Library Foundation and Friends of the Library. The Foundation recommends that supporters attend the City Council meetings to voice their concerns. OLD BUSINESS Cupertino User Survey Results & Actions Clare Varesio provided an update on projects in the Library. Presented “How Patrons Use the Library” survey results and accessing information about the library. Polling Box relocation at Civic Plaza The Commission continued the topic from the previous meeting. Vice Chair Crabtree attended the Citizens Advisory Committee on Elections on April 3rd, who advises the Registrar of Voters. The Registrar of Voters will not move the box from the 2016 location. STAFF AND COMMISSION REPORTS  Cupertino Community Librarian Report – March report as submitted.  County Librarian Report – As submitted.  Friends of the Library Report – None.  Cupertino Library Foundation Report – None.  Commissioner Report – Commissioner Kumarappan is working with Clare Varesio on the digital gateway project. Vice Chair Crabtree worked on registering voters. Noted that City Council directed staff to consider building a new City Hall facility in the next 5 to 7 months.  Poet Laureate Report – None.  Staff Report – Christine Hanel reminded the Commission about an April 12 Event with Commissioner Grymes.  Calendar Review – Commissioners to attend Mayor’s meetings, 1st Wednesday @ 5:30pm, as follows: Commissioner Kumarappan – June 6 ADJOURNMENT: The meeting adjourned at 9:06pm.
