I am not able to attend the Cupertino Planning Commission meeting tonight on the 'signs being requested for the Hyatt House Hotel. I just wanted to make a few comments on the signs that the hotel is requesting to face the freeway or Wolfe Road. Any signs that the hotel has that are facing 280 should be as smalll as possible and and not a loud statement advertising the Hyatt Hotel. The Hyatt House is in the back of a mall complex and of course they would want to advertise the hotel. But, having very big signs on the hotel facing 280 is not appropriate as they would be bright and glaring and look like something out of a San Francisco nightlife. Well placed and discrete signs on the hotel facing 280 would be the best bet as one does not want 280 to become some sort of glaring neon sign display during the day or night. My whole impression of any Hyatt House I have had experience with since I was a child and saw Ricky's Hyatt House and the Cabana Hotel on El Camino in Palo Alto when I was a child was that the Hyatt House chain was a high class, high end hotel chain, a complete class act, and I would hope any signs that would face 280 would reflect that. The Hyatt House is as close to a Four Star Hotel as you can get and anything associated with it in Cupertino, especially any signs facing 280 or Wolfe, should reflect that level of integrity and elegance and that means any signs facing the freeway or Wolfe to be discrete and elegant. I would expect nothing less of the Hyatt House chain. I am glad to have the Hyatt House Hotel in Cupertino. Along with that expectation is that everything associated with the hotel is a class act and that means any signs on the hotel or facing the freeway or Wolfe. That means, class, elegance and high end integrity and discrete signage. Thank you so much for your help in this matter.
