I. MINUTES
A. The minutes of October 27, 2004, were unanimously approved as written.
B. The minutes of November 10,2004, were unanimously approved with
minor edits.
2. INTRODUCTION
A. Karen Du Goss, newly hired Senior Center Case Manager, introduced
herselfto the Commissioners. She will be attending the March 24, 2005,
meeting to make a presentation on Senior Center programs.
3. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
A. Raymond Pole, Senior Care Commissioner for the Santa Clara County
Board of Supervisors, Commissioner for the Sunnyvale Parks and
Recreation Commission, and advisory board member for the Council on
Aging, spoke on the need to better organize infonnation for the seniors in
the County and is working on a report for the Board of Supervisors on
how best to do this. He distributed an executive summary from the 2003-
2004 Santa Clara County Senior Care Commission Position Paper #2 on
this subject. Mr. Pole agreed to be a resource to the Commission.
B. Jagnahar Singh Randhawa, resident, spoke on the importance of getting
involved in the Senior Center's 25th anniversary celebration. Chainnan
Yap encouraged him to participate in Senior Center's Advisory
Committee' work for the April 20 celebration.

4. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
A. Review and clarification of the 2005 Work Plan: Supervisor Lamy
reported that the Commissioners wanted to review and further clarify the
details of the Work Plan in preparation for a February 4, 2 to 5 p.m., City
Council goal-setting session. There are two parts to the Work Plan that
will be reviewed by City Council: I) Commission's request for staff time
to work to identify initiatives that would benefit seniors, 2) subcommittee
assignments. The Commission will be notified of the Council's goal
setting decisions.
Following discussion ofthe Work Plan subcommittee assignments, the
following timeline was established:
March 24:
Sept. 22:
Food and NutritionlHealth & Fitness: Yap and Smith
Volunteer Opportunities: Walker and Incociati
Multi-service Agencies: Smith and Pierce
Housing: Incociati and Pierce

5. MISCELLANEOUS - NO ACTION REQUIRED
A. Written Communications: None
B. Staff Updates: Supervisor Lamy discussed the Mayor's quarterly
meetings with Commissioners,S to 6:30 p.m., Conference Room C at City
Hall. Commissioners agreed to the following meeting assignments:
February 9: Commissioner Yap
May II: Commissioner Walker
August 10: Commissioner Smith
November 9: Commissioner Pierce
C. Community Contacts:
a. Commissioner Walker thanked Commissioner Kennedy Pierce for
an excellent presentation to City Council.
b. Commissioner Smith reported that she attended the State of the
City Address. She also reported that she has met with Supervisor
Lamy and Case Manager Du Goss on the work being done
regarding health and fitness and multi-service agencies per her
subcommittee assignments; she was amazed at how many services
and infonnation are already available. She suggested finding
someone who would volunteer to catalog infonnation on these
services, such as a college student; Commissioner Kennedy Pierce
may have contacts in this regard.

c. Commissioner Kennedy Pierce reported on her subcommittee
work. She also talked briefly about San Jose State's Library
Science Department and how that program may be of assistance.
She attended the November Volunteer Advisory Council. In the
winter program, she is offering two classes through Fremont Adult
Education: Baby Boomers- Your 25- Year Plan and Baby Boomers,
Where Are You Going To Live? She requested infonnation on
each of the commissioners to better know them. Administrative
Assistant Miller agreed to copy and mail the applications they
submitted to City Council for committee assignment in order to
provide some background; one-on-one meetings were encouraged.
d. Chainnan Yap mentioned an interview he gave will be shown
March 28, 4:30 p.m., March 29, 7 p.m., and April! at 7 p.m.
during the show Better Part, cable channel 15. He also announced
the Senior Center's 25th anniversary celebration on April 20 and
that tickets are limited.
6. ADJOURNMENT
Chainnan Yap adjourned the meeting at I: 10 p.m.
