WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS
OLD BUSINESS
1) Bike to Work Day Debrief (Stillman)
• The Cupertino Bicycle and Pedestrian Commission as well as WBC staffed the
Cupertino booth for Bike to Work Day. The booth was setup on N. Stelling
Road, and about 120-130 bicyclists came by for refreshments and coffee. For
next year, possibly announce to large employers to increase participation. Big
Thank You to all supporters including Hobee's, Abundant Life Church, WBC,
City of Cupertino and the Cupertino Bicycle and Pedestrian commissioners.
NEW BUSINESS
2) VTA BPAC Appointment (Stillman)
• Erik Lindskog was the Cupertino representative at the VTA BPAC, and a new
term starts July 1, 2018. Pete Heller made a motion to reappoint Erik
Lindskog as the Cupertino representative at the VTA BP AC. Seconded by
Sean Lyn. All commissioners voted in favor.
3) Calle de Barcelona Bike Boulevard Discussion (Shearin)
• Jennifer Shearin reported about the challenging intersection at Calle de
Barcelona and Finch at peak hours (morning) when students are traveling to
Cupertino High School. Left turn for bicyclists from Calle de Barcelona to
Finch is difficult due to north-bound car traffic on Finch. Various options of
improvement were discussed including using a crossing guard, as well as 3-
way stop signs. Similar situation exists when taking a left turn from Calle de
Barcelona to Miller. This could be solved by a protected left turn on the
existing intersection signal. David Stillman will look into this further.
STAFF AND COMMISSION REPORTS
4) Staff Report (Stillman)
• Progress update on McClellan class IV between Imperial Ave. and S. Stelling
Rd., as well as Bicycle Blvd. on Portal Ave./Merrit Dr. and Greenleaf Dr., as
well as SCB class IV between Wolfe Rd. and Tantau Ave.
• Study session started on UPRR trail (Historic DeAnza trail)
