MINUTES FROM PREVIOUS MEETING
1. April 11,2018—Commissioner Sahni motions to approve minutes. Commissioner Chan
seconds motion. Motion passes unanimously.

OLD BUSINESS
2. <hack>Cupertino 2018 Post-Event Debrief
The Teen Commission and staff debriefed on the<hack>Cupertino event and reviewed
pros,cons, and made suggestions for future events.
3. Teen Stress Media Contest—Check-in
The Teen Commission decided to extend the deadline for the Teen Stress Media Contest.
Commissioners decided to increase marketing efforts and made suggestions for website
improvements.
NEW BUSINESS
4. 2018-2019 Programming Meeting
Staff Liaison Mestizo requested a couple of commissioners be present during a planning
meeting which will outline youth and teen programs and events for 2018-2019. These
events will be run by the Cupertino Recreation's Youth&Teen Services Team.
5. Leadership 95014 Project Discussion
Clare Varesio,the Community Librarian for the Cupertino Library,visited the Teen
Commission to receive their input on a new initiative which is being orchestrated as part
of a Leadership 95014 project. The goal of the initiative is to address teen stress in the
community. Commissioners provided feedback on how teens would respond and other
components to consider.
6. Teen Destress Event
Teen Commissioners received their assignments to research and report on a new Teen
Destress event that was proposed. Commissioners will present and report their answers
at the next meeting.
STAFF&COMMISSION REPORTS
a) Staff Liaison Report
Daniel Mestizo presented the Teen Commission with the following information:
o Teen Commission Recruitment: Teen Commission applications are now open.
The City will be recruiting for 3 Cupertino youths to serve during the 2018-2020
term. Applications are due on May 4w,2018. .
b) Commissioner Report
Commissioner Juliet Shearin on the following:
o Bike-Ped Commission has selected new Chair and Vice Chairpersons.
o Bike to Work Day will be May 10'h.
o There is a protected bike lane being proposed in front of Kennedy
Middle School for drop-off.

At 8:21 pm the Teen Commission adjourned to a REGULAR MEETING which will be held on
Wednesday,May 9,2018 at 6:OOpm in the Conference Room of the Quinlan Community Center,
10185 North Stelling Road, Cupertino.
