Teen 02-28-2018 CUPERTINO Cupertino Teen Commission REGULAR MEETING Wednesday,February 28,2018 6:00 pm Quinlan Community Center,Conference Room 10185 N.Stelling Rd,Cupertino,CA 95014 APPROVED MINUTES CALL TO ORDER @ 6:02pm PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE ROLL CALL Commissioners Present;ALL Tardy: N/A Absent: N/A Staff Present:Mestizo MINUTES FROM PREVIOUS MEETING 1. January 24,2017—Commissioner Subramanyam motions to approve minutes. Commissioner Krishnan seconds motion.Motion passes unanimously. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS • Mayor Darcy Paul talked about the Santa Clara Valley Water District Youth Commission Application. • Sustainability Commissioners Meera Ramanathan and Anna Webber talked about the Sustainability Grant Program for students. OLD BUSINESS 2. Teen Stress Video Contest—Check-in Commissioners neared completion of the teen stress video contest. Contest is tentatively scheduled to run in April. 3. Social Host Ordinance—Presentation Check-in Staff Liaison Mestizo gave final direction to the Teen Commission regarding their Social Host Ordinance Presentation at the March 6th City Council meeting. 4. <hack>Cupertino 2018 Planning The Commission continued planning for the hackathon. Workshops continued to be finalized and will be led by different high school organizations. Commissioners reached out to judge candidates and received responses. Commissioners will follow-up with confirmed judges. Staff and commissioners agreed on action items and each member will present their completion status at the next meeting. NEW BUSINESS 5. Pizza&Politics Date Selection Staff informed the Teen Commission of the selected Pizza and Politics date for 2018. 6. Cupertino Volunteer Fair Colleen Lettire, Community Outreach Specialist,requested feedback on the upcoming Volunteer Fair initiative. The Teen Commission gave Ms. Lettire great ideas which she will use in the event. 7. March Meetings Staff Liaison Mestizo informed the Teen Commission of his upcoming absence. Another Cupertino Recreation staff will be present during the second regular March meeting. 8. Cupertino Teen Programming Staff Liaison Mestizo presented the commission with ideas on where to take Cupertino teen programming over the next year and requested their feedback.
