MINUTES FROM PREVIOUS MEETING
1. January 10, 2017 — Commissioner Tan motions to approve minutes. Commissioner
Krishnan seconds motion. Motion passes unanimously.

OLD BUSINESS
2. Teen Stress Video Contest— Check-in
The Commission further coordinated their Teen Stress Video Contest project. A list of
potential prizes was generated, and a partnership with the Fine Arts Commission was
discussed. Staff and commissioners agreed on action items and each member will
present their completion status at the next meeting.
3. Social Host Ordinance— Next Steps
The Commission will be presenting their support of the Social Host Ordinance at the next
Public Safety Commission meeting on February 8th and at the City Council Meeting on
February 201h. Different commissioners volunteered to attend the meetings and present
their support of the ordinance.
4. <hack> Cupertino 2018 Planning
The Commission continued planning for the hackathon. The events activities,
workshops, and judges were discussed. Commissioners will be reaching out to a list of
potential candidates to serve on the judging panel. Staff and commissioners agreed on
action items and each member will present their completion status at the next meeting.
NEW BUSINESS
5. YAC Attack Teen Commission Workshops
Commissioners will be submitting an application to lead a workshop on how to run a
successful hackathon event. Commissioner Vemula will fill-out and submit the
application before the next meeting. If selected, Commissioners Rajaram, Sahni, and
Lau will present the workshop.
6. February—April Commission Meeting Sion-Ups
Commissioners signed up to attend different City commission meetings.
7. Santa Clara County Public Health Department— Healthy Cities Initiative
Aly Thompson, Public Health Nutritionist for Santa Clara County's Public Health
Department, presented the Teen Commission on an initiative to increase awareness of
the sugar content in drinks. Commissioners were given a list of projects they may lead
to help Cupertino become a healthy city. Other strategies to reduce sugary drink intake
include City-wide and/or county-wide policy changes.

ADJOURNMENT
At 8:50 pm the Teen Commission adjourned to a REGULAR MEETING which will be held on
Wednesday, February 141h, 2018 at 6:00pm in the Conference Room of the Quinlan Community
Center, 10185 North Stelling Road, Cupertino.
