ROLL CALL: Commissioners Present : Adamo, Fitzgerald, Frolich,

Commissioners Absent : Small, Snyder
° Commissioner Frolich called the meeting to order.
WILSEY, HAM, BLAIR (George Volker) General Plan Program
Mr. Volker presented two existing facilities maps, one showing
storm drains and sanitary sewers, the second showing water mains.
•
Mr. Volker was invited to attend the January 31 meeting with
Mr. Fenley and the Commission.
A report was presented, covering the following:
1. Regional and Local Limitations and Problems
2. Existing Park and Recreation Standards
3. Public School Enrollments .
There was much interest in Table 2, Covered Employment in Selected
-Industries, Santa Clara County, Cupertino, Campbell and Los Gatos Plannin;
Areas. Mr. Volker' s firm based their figures on records of employment
covered by workmen' s unemployment insurance.
Commissioner Leonard questioned the figure of 1.2% total employment
of wholesale trade in Cupertino Planning Area, saying Mariani' s had a
larger number than l9 as shown on Table 2. Retail trade with 514 seemed
high to the Commission. Commissioner Leonard also pointed out that in
Transportation, Communication and Utilities, Cali and PG&E had more than
31 employees, just to mention two firms .
The Commission suggested a few other possible sources of more
realistic figures of employment in Cupertino, adding that a challenge
from the audience at the time of the Master Plan presentation would
make the City suspect on the entire plan.
At the next presentation, Mr, Volker will have an analysis of:
1. Economy
2. Population forecasting
3. Employment and purchasing power
14. Future land requirements
A preliminary General Plan is due May 1.
It was moved by Commissioner Adamo, and seconded by Commissioner
Rampy that the meeting be adjourned.
