CALL: Commissioners Present : Fitzgerald,• Frolich, Leonard, Small Snyder . . Co.rrni .ssloners Absent: Rampy, •Adamo The Chairman •cal•led the meeting to order. • The Chairman of the H-Control Committee discussed the attendance at H-Committee meetings,' adding that there was usually three members out of five in attendance, The Chairman said that .he .had. names. of; three or four architects in the city who will be invted .:to join the committee. Councilman Jewett, who was in-the audience, recommended Council be advised of consistent absence. Commissioner Leonard moved the motion as presented on Monday evening.. • .I. WHEREAS the Commission` in meetings with Mr. Fenley has argued that the school on the Jack and Louie Mariani parcel near the freeway is an improper use; and II. WHEREAS the Paul Mariani plant property is in the County, and because of road pattern near it seems destined for 1 eventual uses other than R-l; and, . III. WHEREAS Jack and Louie Mariani with about 55 acres have . only 7 acres of R-1 zoning; and • :• .. IV. WHEREAS the next major parcel east is the 40 acre PG&E hold- ing for their west Valley yard - a non-residential use; and, V. WHEREAS the only other major parcel is the 20 acre Danna parcel committed to the Varian complex; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that it is the considered opinion of the Commission that: a) Any thought of a school site bounded by Highway 9, Homestead, Wolfe, and Junipero Serra be abandoned. • b) No further R-1 zoning will be granted within' this area, AYES: Commissioners: Fitzgerald, Frolich, Leonard, Small, Snyder NAYS: Commissioners: None ABSENT:.Commissioners: Adamo, Rampy • Motion carried 5-0. . . • Mr. Volker presented a report on AssumptiO J-:, Objectives and Principles, . . Briefly, Cupertino' is part of the large metropolitan area surrounding San Francisco Bay, and that area will grow to approximately 8,000,000 population by 1985. Cupertino ' s growth will reach 180,000 40 in 1985. On page 3, item 12,' the Commission asked that 13 ' cities be changed to 17 cities in the 250 square mile Santa Clara Valley, Under Principles on page 6, it was decided that there could be problems encountered in the statement of item 1, therefore it has been deleted, and. the ,Principles now number 1 thru 21. . In discussing a wide variety of housing types, item 5 under Principles, the problem of town houses, and what would happen in the case of a foreclosure was discussed. Again -the need for a new ordinance was mentioned. -1- Commissioner Leonard stated that he would like to see more interest in a water system° The Planner stated that there is no major Capital Improvement Plan, and that this might be the next step to consider after presenta- tion of the Master Plano The State provides money for this, and per- haps it should be considered. Councilman Saich, in attendance, stated he would. like to see some of the open space preserved, that those who rode horses will find it hard to find; space for it if all of the land is used. Commissioner Leonard felt that water and sewers could act as a control on the canyons until such time as they could be annexed. • Commissioner Leonard asked if planning data could be made available. to Varian, Blayr & Livingston,&alan Walters.
