V REPORT ON HIGHWAY MEETING: It was the concensus of the Planning Commission that the City Council should tell the Board of Supervisors that the City favors a change in the County Master Plan. The Stevens Creek Freeway hearing on August 2nd at Fremont High School indicated that the State intended to route the Free- way according to their prior plans. The protests registered by Mountain View and Cupertino will be (apparently) to no avail. During the hearing Karl Belser stated that Cupertino had reg1s- tered no previous protests to the routing of the Freeway. VI CONSIDERATION OF POSSIBLE POLICY ON SERVICE STATIONS: One trend of thought on this question advanced the notion that service station permits might be conditioned on additional commerc1al development to be construoted in a shopping center. , Another idea was that the Planning Commission could simply approve or reject any service station applications on its own merits, depending upon the feeling of the Planning Commission as to the desirability of the proposed location. If the Planning Commission is skeptical of the location, they are entitled to reject the application. VII MISCELLANEOUS: It was moved bY Commissioner Cali that the Planning Commission submit the filing cabinet bill for Council approval; seconded by Commissioner Paizis and carried 5 - O.
