I ROLL CALL Commissioners Present: Commissioners Absent: Leonard, Bell, Cali Neilsen, Paizis II THE MINUTES OF THE SEPTEMBER 7TH MEETING WERE READ AND APPROVED. III COMMUNICATIONS A. Written Santa Clara County - Planning Commission Agenda for 9/19/56 B. Oral Huttlinger. Inquiry on office building and apartments. The Huttlinger inquiry concerned a development on Miller Avenue, No formal application was presented; therefore, no action was taken. IV UNFINISHED BUSINESS Setbacks on Texaco Station - Hiway 9 & Homestea~ The question raised by Mr. Bodkin, the Superintendent for Lang Construction Company, was tabled in the absence of two members of the Commission. It was noted that the County Master Plan called for a 120' right-of-way on Hiway 9 and 100' on Homestead Road, The difficulty arose because the State encoachment permit issued to Texaco called for curbs at the State property line while the original plans showed a 30' setback, Bodkin was willing to place the curbs at either place, but wanted the City to decide. V NEW BUSINESS Rundle - Sign permit in C-l-H Zone - Town & Country Liquors: After a brief discussion in which the size of the sign was discussed, QQffimissioner Bell moved that a sign permit be granted to Rundle; seconded by Commissioner Cali and carried 3 _ O. W. Gordon Eustice for M. W, Eldridge. U~~ermit for service station in C-l-H zone...Highway 9 at Silverado Avenue: Mr. Eldridge stated his plans for the corner and it was moved by Commissioner Cali that the matter be tabled for further . consideration; seconded by Commissioner Bell and carri~d 3 - 0, The question of grade at this particular corner was raised by Commissioner Bell, but Eldridge felt that the slope would not substantially interfere with the operation. He granted that some fill would be necessary. John McGowan...BldJ2:. Permit to add to and existing residence at ïõ401 N. Hiway 9: It was mQved~ Commissioner Bell that th~ Planning Commission grant McGowan a building permit; seconded by Commissioner Cali and carried 3 - O. There seemed to be reasonable assurance that the residence was not intended as a rental unit in the near future. VI ADJOURNMENT AT 9:10 P.M. ********** A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION W~S HELD OCTOBER 1.1956, AT 7:45 P.M., during which the Texaco problem was considered. The Chairman drafted a policy recommendation which he submitted to the Commission, which in turn accepted the findings and recommended the statement to the Council for approval. The actual motion was made by Commissioner Bell, seconded by Commissioner Neilsen, carried 4-0 (Mr. Paizis being absent at the moment).
