Aronsen matter indicated that no member of the Planning
Commission is opposed to suitably controlled M-I-H.

Mr. Geyer was not present to add anything further to the
information presented at the prevlous meeting,
IV UNFINISHED BUSINESS
A. Backman: Second hearing on rezoning and use permit for
approximately one-half acre, corner Bollinger and Highway 9
for service station use. A Mr. Cancl0 inquired what bearing
this matter would have on the Vistica application for a gas
station and shopping center at Blaney and Bollinger. The
answer of the Planning Com~ission was that it would have no
relation as far as could be seen. After a short disoussion,
Commissioner Bell moved that the Planning Commission recommen
to the City Council that the Backman property be rezoned and
a use permit be ~ranted subject to ~eneral terms and condi-
tlons consistent with the Texaoo StAtion application; seoonde
by Commissioner Neilsen, carried 5 - O.
B. New High School: Fresh site plans
The ilanning Commission feels that a greater setback is
necessary on Miller Avenue inasmuoh as the projected width
of the street is 90'. The County Planning Department states
that land condemned by the school district should never be
allowed a rezoning for use as oommeroial property,
C. Damioo: Additional information on request for use permit to
install a water tank on the east side of Stellinb Road
slightly north of Garden Gate Village. Second hearing will
be Friday,'March 1. This tank is needed to provide steady
pumping pressure. At present the Monta Vista Water Works
cannot serve any new subdivision. Two wells produce about
1150 g.p.m. A question arose concerning the septio tanks,
if any, that may lie around the proposed water storage tanks,

proposed neighborhood shopping center at Blaney and Bollinge.
A Mr, Cancio opposed to the Vistica application, sald that
the information presented by the applicant is sketchy; this,
he said, would make him leery of the eventual development,
which might be considerably different from what was expected
He said that the majority of the people ln his immediate
vicinity do not favor the application.
BUSINESS
Request for a two year use permit by W, W. Britt, dba Valley
Marine Sales and Service on a one-acre plot owned by R, and
Anna Giuffrida, who have leased the property for resldence
and business purposes to W, W, Britt, It was moved by
Commissioner Paizis that the requeEit for use permit be
deniedj seconded by Commiêsioner Neilsen. and carried,.4-,]"
Commissioner Cali opposed.
Inquiry on short term rental of abandoned Cupertino Union
School,
Proposed. uses: Offices and lndustrlal tra ining program.
Chairman Leonard sald that the Planning Commission will face
a series of requests on the school parcels. He suggested
that a policy be evolved to avoid many individual decisions.
He suggested a meeting of property owners between the Baer
property and Gulffrida property, one of the objects being
to secure sewer contributions if the owners wish commercial
zoning, and, in addition, to develop a block which could be
handled as such rather than as a dozen separate propertles.
Discussion of $50,000 playground and park proposal made at
last Council meeting, Commissioner iaizis reported a meetin[
of the Little League Directors on the previous Saturday.
They would like to use the Hyde School field and will volun~
teer to cut out an infield if the school property is availabl
for Little League use,
